A Stippling We Shall Go!

Oh what a glorious day it is in Auckland today!! It's taken a couple of days of sun to warm the place up a bit, but now it is the most fabulous day out there. I love this time of year so very much. It makes you want to get on with things and complete projects.

Can you see the first signs of new growth on the Acer Maple tree up top? Lovely little fresh green leaves and the tiniest of little flowers.

Now I thought I'd better behave myself and test the whole stippling process on a mini quilt before tackling the big quilt. I need not have bothered though as the whole thing was a breeze on my amazing machine. The BSR foot is just incredible!!

When the machine is on this setting and you are stippling, you just pull the quilt around to where you want the design to go and the machine stitches as fast as you pull. How fabulous is that?!! I'm just gobsmacked to be quite frank.

You don't even have to use your foot. All done on the top of the machine. When you want a break to gather the next bit up, it just slowly pumps the needle up and down on the spot.

I was fair flying around on this baby! I have to say, when I had been on it for a while and got up, it was a bit like coming off a boat. I kept swirling my body around in the pattern I had been creating. So weird!

So anyway, here I was stippling away on and off all weekend, until the jolly thread ran out. Why did I only buy one thread? Oh and I realise that I need to buy a pack of bobbins too as it's really annoying when they run out. A quick trip to the shop this morning saw that issue resolved.

So what do you think? Isn't it great? I have to say I am totally in L.O.V.E. with it!!! I love this photo of it down here. It looks finished, but I like to cheat a bit with my photos sometimes. Think I might be a bit of a dreamer?

I am just one quarter of the way through it but more than happy with that. I really love stippling! I thought I might get bored with it after a while but it's completely addictive. I can't wait to start this afternoon's session.

Hey thank you everyone so far that has left me a lovely comment about my quilt and giveaway!! I love getting your comments. I have a list of everyone participating in the giveaway, but there is still plenty of time to join it. Remember Friday is the last day! Hope to hear from some more of you. Also very nice to see some of the closet hiders coming forth. Good on you!

OK, hope you are having a day full of sun as well and enjoying yourselves. See you later!

WOW WOW WOW, the quilt is looking just fabulous! Can you imagine doing all that stippling by hand??? That machine is worth its weight in gold. Hmm, come to think of it, it probably did cost its weight in gold, lolol, but hey, with results like that, who cares?

Hi Sarah! How are you? It's so strange for me reading about spring...I always forget you live just on the other side of the world.
Here is always very hot even if summer should be almost over.
Your quilt is stunning: I love it! And I love your sewing machine too.
Lots of love :)

Hello Sarah!I meant those e-mails you get from your friends or from somebody you don't even know and you're asked to read them then pass them on to other people.Sometimes it is said how many friends to send them to, sometimes it says that you'll be lucky if you send it to your friends and if you don't do it some bad things might happen to you. Sometimes you can find in them nice thoughts ,that's true, however I really hate these e-mails.. and I don't read them anymore even it is sent by a very good friend.
I don't know if you have them in NZ..
I often get one or two a week .

About prizes and tags I'm agree with you, but I think I'll pass them on to because I wouldn't like to offend the person I get them from ,but only to two bloggers, not more...

Don't you love the BSR? I have one too and I'm working on a very similar quilt to yours. By the way, did you know there is a BSR 2 mode that actually stops the needle when you stop moving the fabric? Love your stippling, it is addictive isn't it? I'm trying something new on one of my quilts, it's sort of wonky whatever I feel like sort of free motion quilting. I'm going to see if there is still time for the giveaway now.
