The Perfect Housewife

This morning I got a bargain.  I bought a big box of red plums for only $3.  They were just perfect for what I intended them for.  Jam.  Mmmm... yummy plum jam.

I really enjoy my jam making.  I love how easy it is to make ten jars of the very best jam for less than $10.  Homemade jam, you just can't beat it for taste, freshness and texture.  I also love how it makes me feel like the most perfect little housewife in New Zealand.  OK I know I'm far from being worthy of that title, but just for a few minutes, let me be that, please?

Check out the little jam skirt?!!  Cutsey isn't it?  Just whipped it up for you.  Please take this jar of jam with my compliments.
Did you notice the crappy sewing?
No, oh dear, now you'll all see it and word will get around quickly.  I can just hear it.  "Did you see it, Mrs Red Gingham ran off the ribbon!"

Oh golly, I'd better have a lie down in preparation.  Please remember... I gave you a jar of jam.  A whole jar of the most delicious jam with a little skirty thing.

Perhaps I should send some yummy homemade bread to go with it...
and then if anyone has any home-churned butter, we will be set!

Nothing better than homemade jam - we're still working our way through what I made last summer - still loads left & I given some away.

The jar skirt looks pretty - makes a change from the little hats we normally give jars :)

You really are a Domestic Goddess and I love the skirt, might just have to borrow that idea :)
Can you believe, i've never made jam, not sure i'd know where to start. Would love to give it a go though.
Have a great week.

Good grief, woman, can't you even sew in a straight line? Had you been on the bottle? Lolol, I love your idea of a skirt instead of a hat, you clever old sausage. I made hedgerow jam in France a couple of years ago, blackberries and elderberries, they turned out great, and my friend Christine made us some lovely plum jam. Yum, nothing like homemade stuff.

Ha ha..you've been on the bottle..ha ha..Lizzie is such a character, isn't she?
Should we pass the hat and send you some proper ribbon??!
It looks divine and I bet it's very tasty too xxxx

Domestic Goddess Crisis of Confidence there, Sarah - we gratefully accept the jam and completely ignore the bit where you ran off the ribbon. I do that every time anyway!

Perhaps you'd like some of my cream cheese to go with your jam and Luisa's bread?

I wouldn't have noticed the errant stitching if you hadn't mentioned it. Why are we always our own worse critics? Homemade jam should be sufficient to cover a multitude of tidiness issues. :)

it looks so yummy! If you weren't so far away, I'd stop by and take a jar!

Oh dear I wrote the wrong thing! The box of plums were only $3. Really, some days. Stitching going off on a walk and now numbers wrong. Oh dear, dear, is there any hope for me?
