Tough Decisions

You are such a bunch of loves aren't you?  You always have such lovely things to say about what I've made.  I really do appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment, I know how busy you all are.  Of course I don't want you to leave me a comment every time, I'm thrilled even if you've just stopped by to read my ramblings.

Remember my yoyos from the weekend?  Well now they are a cushion.  With linen covered buttons no less.

I also think I love it on my bed.  Yes I know I made it as a present...  but...

You have to agree, it does look good on our bed, don't you?  Do you also think it looks great on the carpet?  Now you think I've gone potty in my head don't you?  Please let me explain...

We need your opinion once again.  Yes, you see we value your opinion very much.  You did so well with the curtain choice last year that now we want to use your fabulous knowledge with something even more important than that.  Carpet.

You see it's not easy to choose carpet.  Especially when men see colours so differently to us.  I just don't get it quite frankly.  And they say carpets look two shades lighter when down.  How on earth are you supposed to imagine that?!!

Anyway the nice carpet man, who just happened to fall down the office stairs racing to his appointment with us and ended up with two slipped discs and sustained a large hematoma on his nether region (ooops!), found a really big sample of this colour for us.  The very colour the man of the house liked best (and I didn't agree).  I have to say it looks pretty good in the photo.  Do you think it looks OK too?  Neutral looking?  It's actually got browny bits mixed with whitey natural bits.

It's only for in our bedroom at the moment, we had to as there were large bits of carpet missing after ripping out the mini kitchen.  We aren't ready to do the whole house yet.  If we end up having to change it in a few years time to have matching carpets, well that's just the way it is.  In NZ we have the whole house lot of carpet the same.  We just do!

So if you would like to give your two cents/pence worth, go ahead.  We won't mind if you don't like it a bit.  Honestly!

You can't go wrong with neutral, it means that you can change everything else on a whim as you please, when you please...and I adore your cushion!

It's a yes from me - men see things practically and it is neutral, will go with cool colours which you seem to like best and it reflects rather than absorbs light. The only thing I would watch for is whether the pile looks like muddy foot prints when disturbed - we had a lovely new cream carpet throughout 10 years ago and it looked like someone had walked with wet feet if you went near it - it was in the days of your money back if you are not 100% satisfied and I wasnt' and amazingly all I had to do was say so and I got m a whole new carpet (blue) laid instead at no cost - doubt if that would happen in these recession hit times!

Hullo Sarah, your cushion is beautiful, keep it I say, just keep it. lol. As for your carpet, love it. We have similar colour which is the same for all bedrooms and lounge room. The rest of our house is tiled in a soft terracotta tile. I like neutral floors, and neutral ceilings. I like to be able to change the colours of everything else tho.

Having all the floors the same makes LOADS of sense, you clever Kiwis! It makes the house seem bigger and solves stupid change-over problems between colour schemes. Our house was half tile and half gross old lino when we moved in, and we couldn't match the old tiles... so I know what I'm talking about.

I'm so glad that it's not just me who has a husband who sees colours totally differently! You have to get your girls in to help - our boys go with Ben every time, so it must be a gender thing. That said, I do like the carpet you've got here, so it may well be the right one!

I do like the carpet you've got in the picture but personally I would go for grey with those lovely teals on the wall and curtains. It won't show the dirt as much and grey is the new neutral 'in' colour, which means there will be lots of accessories available.

I like it Sarah... but you've got to live with it... so if you're second guessing and a little worried about it, why don't you get some more samples and put them in different parts of the house where the light is different and walk around for a few days to see if you truly love it? It's such a huge expense you definitely want to be happy with it ;)

Your yoyo pillow is adorable!
We just recently replaced carpets, and I know how hard it is to decide! We went with a warm, straw-like color, which works so well in our northwest light and gray days! So that's my best advice, to look at it at different times of day, in different light. "Neutral" can be warm or cool, so what is the feeling you'd like?

Oh! Now that you mention it! I can't believe I didn't notice that the carpets are all the same in all the houses I looked at! I'll never be able to say I'm observant!

Neutral for me :0) I ADORE your pretty cushion, did it take you long. There is a yo yo cushion featured in the Sewing In No time craft book, and I have always wanted to have a go, but just think it would take me forever ;0) I love the heart shape on yours, so pretty.
