A Little Doily Love

I love to keep my doilies for my future bed cover project in a nice pile.  That way I can peek at them and play with them whenever I want.

These are my newest ones...

Isn't this fine lacy one so pretty?  I love the little flowers around the edge.

This one is equally beautiful.  The edging is so pretty and the embroidery exquisite.  It's bigger than most of my mats and must have looked wonderful on a dresser once.

And I just couldn't leave this pretty blue one behind.  I LOVE the colour.  It's not very flat but after a wash and a press I'm hoping it will sort itself out.

I hadn't bought any in this particular antique store before and I paid more than usual.  But they are rather lovely and still worth the extra few dollars.  I don't have enough doilies for the bed cover just yet.  I still need to find a suitable backing fabric to sew them to.  I'm thinking an old tablecloth in white cotton or linen.  It's a nice project to have on the go.  This is the best part to me.

I am quite intriqued! The doillies are pretty and I had to giggle as I have a similar pile in process. We should remember to share the final outcomes with one another. ~Kelly

A girl can never have too many doilies. I love them, I actually use them on furniture, and they do look so pretty. I really like the blue one as well, that was a very good find.
Hey, you ought to ask Auntie JJ to make you a croilie, she is very good at those, lol, and she IS in Portugal at the mo with nothing to do but make croilies.

As Liz said, a girl can never have too many doilies. I also use them on my furniture as well. Funny I always have done right from a teenager and probably before that! I change them round as well as the mood suits. The blue one is lovely, lucky you! The linen one is very pretty as well.

Beautiful doilies and a cute bunny too. This will be a very romantic bedcover. I believe it is great fun to collect all the doilies.

What beautiful doilies...I've just started collecting some. I'm not sure what I'm going to make, but I just think they're so pretty.

Hello crafty mummy!
My mum had a cover like the one you'vew in mind, it had "doilies" sewed on an old rose satin.
I'll keep an eye out for you for more doilies! :)
