No.2 and I decided that the playhouse needed a little bit of jazzing up for the summer. So we cut out triangles and made a bunting this afternoon. She stitched them all together, which was trying at times, but she did a great job in the end. Jolly bobbins running out are so frustrating are they not?!! Mind you, stitches falling off the line are just as bad!!
We will have to beg Daddy to put some little hooks up tomorrow. The flags are made from a tea towel and some canvas. We know it will need throwing out at the end of summer, but that's OK. Instant summer colour was what we needed.
Now we think some brightly coloured Petunias will have to be purchased for the dinky little window boxes. Don't know why I'm bothering really, as they usually die fairly quickly from lack of watering. Well I just don't remember to water them all the way up there! Too stuffed after the day to think about them to tell the truth.
Gosh by tea time I'm about done with the day! Those of you with little people, do you also find that last hour just about impossible to get through? That's when you need a lovely Mary Poppins I think. Still I must admit, now that the playhouse is clean and tidy, they are spending most of their afternoons up there and leaving me in peace. Although that may sound rather good, at the other end we remember all the undone homework and lunchboxes that have been forgotten about. And that's when the loveliness all breaks down and panic begins.
But I do think play is much more important than homework any day. You're only young for such a short time and this time is to be enjoyed. Now my time is about to end and the pickups to begin. Kindy first then school. Dear Papa has been on his first kindy trip today - hope he's survived!! Talk later.

The bunting is so sweet. I'm thinking of making some for my niece's upcoming birthday tea party...thanks for sharing.
What a lovely idea.
What a fabulous play house. Love the colour scheme and is that a letter box on the door? How clever. I'd never come in for dinner if I had a cubby like that!
Thanks ladies. Actually it’s not a letter box, it's the cover for the number pad security door lock!! Hubby wanted to have it lockable but knew a key would get lost. Works so well.
perfect summer prettiness! I love bunting.. I have a suitcase full of it from various parties etc... I love the colours you've used too! sweet.
Lovely bunting, it's so funny hearing you talk about summer starting when we are just going into winter..

Lovely summer cheer and wonderful bunting! The girls cubby house is just wonderful.
I'm looking forward to making some bunting for my sewing cabin even if it is winter! Not long now...
You are so right about the playing and childhood!
That's gorgeous. You definitely should plant the flowers and make it the kids' job to water them. They'll love it - you'll probably have to stop them overwatering them!
Lovely summery bunting. Yes I agree, flowers in the window boxes and get the girls to water them. Maybe geraniums, they can take a bit of punishment!

The bunting looks great Sarah, really nice colours. I agree about the last hour of the day being hard work, but I get round it by bathing and pj-ing a bit earlier and having a bit of quiet TV time before stories and bed, makes it all much more calm :)
Thats a jolly big play house! Definitely big enough for a sewing studio, lolol. The bunting is great, nice and bright and cheerful. And yes, you do need some nice bright red flowers in the window boxes. I am sure the girls would be willing to look after them........
Gorgeous bunting! I really must make some. You could make some fake flowers from fabric for the window boxes, they wont need watering! I wish I'd have had a play house like that when I was young, it's actually nicer than my house!
I want a cubbyhouse with pretty bunting now too !
oh how pretty is this! Love it, thanks for sharing. I was in spotlight today and they had tea towels going for .99cents each. I picked a few up thinking they would make great bunting with their brightly coloured stripes, but I put them back. I am meant to be studying and doing assignments, and I have so many other projects on the go. Hmmmm, you have me tempted to get out there before work tomorrow now and just get them anyways. lol.
Hello Sarah! I love your playhouse...beautiful colour and so pretty with it's bunting! I remember when J was little and I'd just split up from my Mister, I used to find that last hour before bedtime so hard. I was terribly tired and stressed and there was no one to help. It passes though, and now we have a lovely cosy time in the evening and she pretty much goes to bed at the same time as me! I did find a glass of wine helped! That sounds a bit debauched doesn't it? Loads of love and hugs from me and from your Daisy! Amanda xxxx
Ah...dreaming of Summer in this very chilly day.....

Fab bunting! What a marvellous play housE1
Ahh the bunting looks lovely i wish i had a playhouse to play in ;-) Super idea for the children. I agree with you about homework i think there at school for 6 hours the last thing they want to do is more, playtime is much more important i feel. Dee
I want to play that is soooo cute!
Wow what a lovely playhouse, I won't show my kiddies that as they will want one :-)
Oh yes that last hour, they are all getting tired, I am too, madness!
Since your so crafty with the fabric how about some fabric flowers? I'm afraid I too have the dreaded brown thumb when it comes to outdoor plants!
An adorable playhouse - how clever of little miss red gingham to come up with the idea of bunting.
Bunting is beautiful!!! I think we should have bunting all over houses :). Lovely to have a playhouse x
The bunting is so cute and the play house is very lovely.
It reminds me of once when my sister and I were little, we had a mini sofa with 2 chairs and a coffeetable. We could play in our own living room. I think we also had a little stove with pots.
