Paisley and Crochet

Here's the cute little top I made yesterday.  It was a pattern I bought from the op shop before Christmas for 50c I think.  New Look 6337.  They suggested I use knit fabric, but as it's not what I wanted to use, I decided to just make it a bit bigger instead.  The paisley fabric was on special at Spotlight a while back and only cost about $3.  So all in all it was super cheap.  And we all like that now don't we!

Now I ended up making it with buttons down the back just incase it didn't go over her head.  I think it would have, but imagine if it got stuck!  Not good.  No.4 is just three years old, but I made it size four for extra comfort.  Just as well I think.

I've had to add the lace trim, bought from a car boot sale, due to the very short length of the top.  I didn't even measure how long it would be but assumed it would be longer than this.  It didn't even come to the top of her jeans!

So to even the colours up a bit, I added the crochet flower on the front.  That's also the reason she's now wearing it instead of wanting to take it off straight away.  Don't you hate it when they won't wear what you make?!!

I'll be making more of these, but bigger of course.  The pattern also has cute little flared trousers which appeals to me.  No.3 would love a top just like her sister's too.  I think we can cater to that.  They'll be able to wear them over longsleeve tops for winter as well.

That top is gorgeous!
The lace and the crochet work in so well with the paisley.
Funny how my pattern was a disaster because of the whole knit fabric thing, whereas yours was such a success. X

A triumph, there, getting it so cute (and worn) with so many challenges! I enjoyed your last post, too - speed eating is quite the thing with pre-teen boys, I can assure you!

And back to the HCBs - I'm the same as you - we have a breadmaker too but I decided to do it all by hand this year. Strange coincidences...

Wow, Sarah - very sweet. Oh, to be able to just add the buttons down the back like that! One day I will experiment with button holes - one day!
